Start/Sit Pourcast - Week 8 - Injured Reserve Is Fuller Than Ever
The IR list keeps piling up. Will Fuller, COME ON DOWN!!
We are almost at the halfway point of the season, and the NFL is a goddamn mess. What’s new? More big players down, more take-a-knee controversies, and no end in sight. It’s a soap opera with helmets and pads, and you love it, don’t you? Don’t you?! Hey, at least Will Fuller had the common decency to go off for 20+ fantasy points before he went down with a torn ACL. Thank you, Will. Get better soon! Way too much talent getting knocked off the field, and the NFL is still a miserable failure at remediating this trend. It just keeps getting worse. More rules, more injuries.
QB - MIN
Kirk Cousins (QB - MIN) vs NO
The now gnarly New Orleans Saints secondary has nothing in the tank, right now, and look for Kirk to have another break out day like he did at Green Bay. Cousins is a solid QB1 this week.
TE - CIN
C.J. Uzomah (TE - CIN) vs TB
What do Tampa Bay and the major political establishments have in common? No defense. There’s just nothing on the other side of the football for the Bucs. And, even though the Bengals had a down day last week against the Chiefs, whose defense finally showed up in grand fashion, Uzomah still found the end zone and caught both of his targets. C.J. is emerging as a solid TE2 in the NFL, and this is a dream matchup for him. If Andy Dalton bounces back, it could mean big numbers all the way around.
TE - CLE
David Njoku (TE - CLE) @ PIT
Njoku has emerged as a solid TE1 in his second year. The talented second year ball catcher has been on fire his last four games, and he should be a major player in this matchup. Njoku’s a stud.
WR - PHI
Nelson Agholor (WR - PHI) @ JAX
With Jalen Ramsey mostly shadowing Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholor is likely to see a lot of Quentin Meeks or Tre Herndon, both inexperienced rookies. Agholor could be someone Carson Wentz leans on more, this week.
WR - CHI
Allen Robinson (WR - CHI) vs TB
This is an “if-then” statement (like BASIC programming in the ’80s): If Robinson draws Darryl Roberts, then he will have a bad day. The Jets’ secondary is a convoluted mess of injuries right now. Assuming it’s Roberts, who has truly stepped up in the absence of Trumane Johnson, Robinson could get completely shut down.
WR - NYJ
Rishard Matthews (WR - NYJ) @ CHI
News changes fast in the NFL, and a week after saying he’s unlikely to sign with a team this season, he finds himself in the middle of a battered and horrible receiving corps. Quincy Enunwa is out, Robby Anderson is likely out as well, which lines Matthews up across from Jermaine Kearse. Whether he’s shadowed by Bryce Callahan or Prince Amukamara (cornerbacks have some amazing names), this is not likely a good week for Rishard.
