Start/Sip Pourcast - Week 10 - I’m Not Thielen It

Three weeks... Mahomes returns. Just like I predicted. It pays to follow the Booze League and read the weekly Start/Sip. If you’re teetering around .500 in your league, it’s time to make one last push to get ahead. This is do or die time, and if you are hoping to make a playoff run with your middling teams, you need to make all the right moves: last minute trades, hot waiver wire pickups, and good roster decisions.

Elsewhere in the NFL, Minnesota Vikings top wide receiver, Adam Thielen, is out with a nagging hamstring injury. Head coach Mike Zimmer says it’s week-to-week, which doesn’t sound promising, but it’s good news for the Dallas Cowboys, who host the Vikings Sunday night.

Week 10 is Byemaggedon, with six teams resting (PHI, NE, WAS, DEN, JAX, HOU). There are a LOT of top fantasy players baked into that list. If you haven’t set yourself up for covering the bye weeks, you will likely struggle. Also, trade deadlines are happening right now, so get in those last requests now!

Start:

Marlon Mack.jpg

Marlon Mack (RB - IND) vs MIA

Though Mack has been a force in reality football due to his massive carry count, it hasn’t really translated to fantasy, wherein he’s been an up and down performer. Literally, every week he’s gone way up, then way down, back and forth through the entire season. This is the most frustrating kind of fantasy player. However, Miami is the best fantasy matchup in the NFL for running backs (and almost everybody else), and Marlon should ball out against them at home, this week.

Mark Ingram.jpg

Mark Ingram II (RB - BAL) @ CIN

Mark Ingram is quietly putting together one hell of a season. At the halfway mark, he is on pace for 228 carries, 1170 rushing yards, and 14 touchdowns. Cincinnati is a mess, and a new QB takes the stage, this week, Ryan Finley. It’s highly likely that the Bengals will not be able to command a big lead (if any lead at all) that would force an air game. Ingram should be very busy and productive on Sunday.

Aaron Jones.jpg

Aaron Jones (RB - GB) vs CAR

For fantasy purposes, the Panthers defense is a lion against the quarterback, and a lamb against the running back position. This spells out a tasty matchup for the red hot Jones, who Rodgers should be leaning on, heavily, in week 10.

Sit:

Kirk Cousins (QB - MIN) @ DAL

You like that?! No, no I don’t. Cousins has had an up and down season, to say the least. One thing he’s been consistent on, though, is that he has struggled mightily against teams with top pass defenses (GB, CHI). Dallas is better than both of them against the air attack. It would be wise to sit him on Sunday night, but it’s a late slate game, so have an alternative option ready to plug in on the morning or afternoon slate of games.

Devonta Freeman (RB - ATL) @ NO

The Saints’ defense is simply nasty against the run. Drew Brees and crew will be ready for the Falcons to come marching in, and a big air game is likely. It’s going to be a big Michael Thomas day, and a quiet one for Freeman.

Seattle Seahawks (DEF) @ SF

The Seahawks D hasn’t exactly been fantasy gold in 2019, but many fantasy owners are having to stream during Byemaggedon. If you’re thinking of plugging them in for this matchup, don’t. San Francisco is owning defenses almost as much as offenses. Look elsewhere, like Pittsburgh or the Jets.
